Should I use Linux instead of Windows?

Staying on Windows 7 and still using the internet, is that safe nowadays? I wouldn't know, as I've stopped using Windows some time ago, but that's an ancient OS there. I'm sure it's fine for offline, though.

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

I see. Well, if it's bad, I would re-download it from another source, even though it seems to work. It might crash later in the game. But that's your call, of course. Edit: Your installer (DBI hopefully) didn't spit out any errors during installation?

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

How do you tell it's a bad xci? Did you check it? The two programs that I know of to verify installation files (nsp/xci) are nxgameinfo and nxfileviewer. I personally use nxgameinfo. It will tell you if something is fishy with your file before you install it.

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

OMG! He has the potential to get dozens of free games, and he decides to be cheap and buys a fake SD card. I wouldn't even have tried to use it . I would have told him "I said get a decent SD card!" Only this game? It might be the nsp file that you used to install it, which could be bad...

Is there any point upgrading to 18.0?

Here's hoping you might find the time an energy to check what's wrong and release a fix. I know you're officially not supporting it anymore, but we're getting so close to the Switch's end of life now, it would be bad to go without a fully working title installer right at the finish line. No...

Is there any point upgrading to 18.0?

Yes, but I also respect the author's right to keep it closed. That's his decision. He was generous enough to share the fruit of his labor, and I'm thankful for that already.

Is there any point upgrading to 18.0?

I agree this is the main purpose of DBI, and as long as this feature works flawlessly, most everyone will be happy. But DBI can do a lot more than just installing games. It would be annoying to try to use a feature and have it fail. We'll see what happens with the author, anyway.

Is there any point upgrading to 18.0?

It's duckbill007 himself who reported DBI not being fully compatible with the new firmware. Of all users of this forum, he's the one who should know best, he's the dev of DBI after all. Hopefully, he'll find some time to check the issues and release a quick fix.

Anbernic announces the RG Cube retro gaming handheld

Your comment reminds me so much of something my father once told me. He had recently lost his wife (my mother) to cancer in the late 1990's, and wanted to get a computer to help fill his free time in his retirement. He was showing me what he wanted to buy, and these things were expensive. I...

Hacking Switch Informations by serial number - READ THE FIRST POST before asking questions

Well, great for you, then! So I guess the first post needs updating. But in reality, this thread is way less useful than it was several years ago. Nowadays, anybody who buys a new Switch and wants to hack it needs a modchip. Now, this thread is just a reference for people who own older...

Emulation Tinfoil new game wait time

Tinfoil is just a tool to access your specific shop. So the more accurate question would be how long until my shop releases that specific game. If you can't wait, why not download the xci file floating around?

Hacking Switch Informations by serial number - READ THE FIRST POST before asking questions

Did you buy it brand new yourself? Are you sure this is the real serial number? Maybe the motherboard was switched and doesn't match the casing? Check in HOS to see if it's the real SN.

nsp files being read-only and not letting me change that

Have you tried installing the nsp files directly via USB connection, instead of copying the nsp files?

Game just will not install (never happened before)

You're probably already fully set up for Hekate's FSS0 method. If you didn't modify the file hekate_ipl.ini that came with your sigpatches, you just need to select the leftmost option in Hekate's main menu (Launch), and then select the CFW you want to launch (Sysmmc or emummc, depending what...

Game just will not install (never happened before)

Strange that they don't work for you, then. Are you launching Atmosphere through Hekate's FSS0 method? If you're chainloading Fusee, that might be the issue, although using the patched fusee.bin might help. I never tried that, though.

Game just will not install (never happened before)

ExFat certainly is a weak link in your CFW chain. You should switch to FAT32 as soon as possible to avoid future problems, but do keep installing firmwares supporting both exFat and FAT32. Concerning your issue, you should heed what user duckbill007 wrote above. He knows his stuff (being the...

Game just will not install (never happened before)

Hmm, if you can play other pirated games, then that would demonstrate the sigpatches are working as intended. If your XCI file is good, then it might be some corruption issue on the SD card. It's formatted as FAT32, right?

Game just will not install (never happened before)

If you're chainloading the latest fusee.bin from Hekate, be aware that fusee doesn't support loading the sigpatches anymore. You could boot the CFW directly with Hekate, or use a patched fusee, or use sys-patch. Lots of posts on this forum about this topic. Search the last few pages in the...

How do I launch the boot loader? in hekit.

It's hard to understand your problem. Maybe rephrase it, or just follow a guide, which should help you.

Here's a good question. Which is better fast format or slow format? For your SD card.

Yes, fast format all the way. It's also less stressful on the SD card... limited write cycles, etc.
