  • the fact spam posts don't get deleted from the "recent blogs" tab on the homepage makes the site look like it's more of a disasterous shape than it is

Mods told me one day I wasn't able to post my drawings with boobs or genitals. So I made a realistic portrait of a pornstar face covered in muk and THAT got deleted. So there's no excuse other than mods being biased and immature.

the journals themselves are gone, but the entry in the "recent activity" widget is still there

That's definitely an issue. It's some quirk of xenforo, because no matter which way you delete the post, it stays in the recent content tab when it's a blog. I imagine it's not an easy fix, because it's been that way for years... But it is a bad look

@x65943 I do, yes. You guys call it "thrift stores", which is a much more better name.

not really locally, only goodwill but they either throw away anything related to tech or put it behind auction glass

Charity shops over here, they don't sell computers most likely for safety reasons.

  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
It does a clicking sound and Windows doesn't recognize it
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
clicking = bad, i'd still try it on a linux box or a mac, out of desperation
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Do you recommend any way to back up?
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
I will keep trying, but that clicking sound seems like the moving parts are stuck or something
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
i use a mac, so I just leave time machine running, not real sure how to back up on a windows box

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:

I had a weird thought, Sega with the Saturn it was a train wreck a pile of chips, but it does kind of fit the design philosophy of Sega at the time.... The Genesis/Sega CD/32X machine was probably loads of fun to program for
