I use Retroarch on the Switch because a standalone GBA emulator I tried a few years ago had audio glitches but Retroarch hasn't given me any problems. On the PC I use standalone emulators just out of habit.

Matter of preference really. On the Switch, retroarch is the best available for a lot of emulated platforms, but standalone mGBA should be just as good as the retroarch mGBA core.

I know some people don't like the complexity of all the retroarch menus, and prefer standalone for that reason, but yeah really just use what works best for you.

On switch I see no real downsides to RA, comapred to standalones. On PC you might wanna use real dolphin or PCSX2 compared to RA versinos
