With the release of a kernel exploit for 4.05 I'm sure a lot of people will start looking where to buy a ps4/ps4 pro/ps4 slim within the correct firmware range. I think it would be a good idea to have a thread to share the firmware you got with your ps4, when and where do you buy it and also if it was a regular/slim or pro version. I tried looking for some info but only found a thread in wololo for firmware 1.76.

HOW THE MANUFACTURED DATE LOOKS LIKE
Manufactured code is 04/2015

Manufactured date = 03/2017

I just checked my PS4 Pro box, there’s a date like 2017/01 on a sticker of the barcode, and it came with 3.70. Maybe checking the date on the box would help? (If you pick them up from the store.)

Yeah, I think that we can build a list based on the manufacturing date + firmware found.
Btw, just added yours as reference. Is your console NA, EUR or JPN?

JPN. Also, my slim with the same 2017/01 manufacturing date came with 4.07. So seems Pro got older firmware.

I thought this format might be a bit cleaner looking. Firmware is of course relevant, the date it was manufactured (Retail units shipped before the 4.06 firmware hit are of course going to have lower firmware), retailer (In case a retailer has old stock. It'd be nice to know which one the PS4 was bought from), date purchased (Ties in with the retailer section. If someone bought a PS4 Pro from Target online and it came with 3.55 then this'll help) as well as if it was a bundle console. I'm not sure if PS4 boxes have a slot at the bottom of the box that shows the serial number but if they do then it might help to go the Switch route. (They're collecting the first few digits of the serial number to correspond them with the software version they ship with.)

Thanks, updated first post using your format. I think ps4 boxes have a serial number but not sure if it can be related to the firmware.

I give my contribution :)
Bought a PS4 D-chassis 1TB in March 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn bundle with 3 month of PS Plus :

Model (on the label): CUH-2016b b01y
Code under the model (on the label): P-27452396-K
Another code (on the label): S01-2419712-C
Another code (on the white box, not on the label): 4-593-859-01

Native firmware: 3.55 (and still on 3.55, for my pleasure :D)

Can someone explain all the 3 codes? :)
Now I'm looking for a PS4 Pro with a native firmware < 4.07....
But I can't find any info on the web about how to distinguish a good 3.70 from a bad 4.07... :(
Moreover, Mediaworld has the Pro on sale at 299€, so I'm very tempted to buy it, hoping for good ...
In the worst case I could always send the console back, but i prefer to avoid the return...

That info is only good if you know what firmware it came with.

As far as anything on a website that isn't a bundel its basically a crap shoot

You can easily buy replacement buttons but it's a good fall back
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
on screen keys would be cool but the gba screen is pretty tiny though :(
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'd rather use emulation but it's cool regardless again the main point of the Touchscreen isn't just for buttons but for menu options
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
would be way better for menu options
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
although I have huge doubts anyone would be able to make homebrew that would give support for the touch screen

then again theres still people who develop games on systems as old as the nes for fun

I doubted 360 emulation would be possible

I always thought Saturn emulation would straight up be impossible
